- PdPRo has a higher stitch pull and a wider 2nd bond process window

New Palladium Coated Copper Wire (PdPRo) for IC Applications

PdPRo is a palladium coated copper wire that contains copper as a main component and palladium as a second element.
This new product is another contribution to the current Heraeus portfolio of non-gold bonding wires that includes a wide range of bare copper products, as well as Ag based products.
The main benefits of PdPRo are the higher stitch pull values and the wider 2nd bond process window compared to conventional copper wires. It has a consistent Free Air Ball (FAB) roundness in the N2 environment which contributes to a robust quality at a wide range of the gas flow rate. PdPRo is easy to optimize and able to plug and play with other CuPd wires.
This bonding wire can especially be used in Stand-off Stitch Bond (SSB) / Reverse Stand-off Stitch Bond (RSSB) and is available in diameters ranging from 0.6 to 2.0 mil.

Roman Perez, Product Manager of copper bonding wire products of the Bonding Wire Business Unit of Heraeus, states: “The advantages of PdPRo are evident. PdPRo has an excellent workability and reliability performance. It is definitely an economical alternative to gold wire while keeping outstanding quality.”
This new product provides customers the possibility to choose the most suitable technology for wire materials other than gold. Thus the PdPRo has an overall broader position in the wide range of bonding wires.

TEWS Elektronik – The experts for moisture, density and mass measurement using microwave technology

Posted on 29 January 2013 by PR-Gateway

TEWS Elektronik revolutionizes classic measuring methods in moisture content measurement the patented microwave resonance method and provides the pharmaceutical-, wood- and paper industries with precise measuring results as well as quick and easy operation.

Hamburg, January 28, 2013 – Moisture and density measurement systems can be used wherever mass and moisture have to be measured. In the pharmaceutical industry, the tobacco industry, the food industry and in the coffee-, paper- and wood industries, precise measurement results are the basis for a one-hundred percent monitoring. The patented TEWS measurement method by TEWS Elektronik GmbH & Co. KG is based on the principle of microwave technology offering fast and precise measurement results.

Manfred and André Tews and Tim Richter managing directors of the company, know how important precise measurement results are for certain analyses and adaptation of pharmaceuticals, food and consumer goods. “With the TEWS method for moisture measurement, patented and developed by us, it is possible to record and display several dozen or even several thousand measured values per second. This makes once complicated measurement methods and calculations unnecessary”, Manfred Tews is convinced.

With the microwave resonance method, a weak microwave field is generated by the sensor, which has a characteristic resonance for the sensor. By filling or covering the sensor with a product, the position and strength of the resonance can be influenced.

André Tews is convinced that the industry will make use of the many advantages of this new method: “The TEWS method for moisture and density measurement does not only offer high measuring accuracy and is extremely easy to use, it is also suitable for using online.” Manfred Tews adds “Since the measurement is independent of optical influences, the measurement results are always 100% exact. In addition, our measurement devices do not have to be serviced”. Nevertheless for technical questions, a competent consulting team is always available by telephone and email.

The TEWS Elektronik GmbH & Co. KG was founded at the end of the 70s by Manfred Tews in Hamburg. Initially, computer technology was produced here. Then 10 years later, the company specialized itself on the development and production of density-independent moisture measurement devices, which operate on the basis of microwave resonance technology. Today the patented microwave resonance method is used in process- as well as in laboratory applications in many industries. The range of services is being constantly expanded and now offers, with the new fourth generation devices, moisture measurement devices which are characterized by software that can be used intuitively.

New JENCOLOR semiconductor sensors for measuring tasks in the areas of analysis, color and light

Really simple light regulation and control
JENCOLOR color sensor board MTCS-INT-AB3

Jena (Germany) 22 January 2013 – MAZeT GmbH – a leading provider of Electronic Design and Manufacturing Services – presents new JENCOLOR products for measuring tasks in the fields of colorimetry and LED light. The new products include the MTCSiCF color sensor for photometry and colorimetry, the MCDC04 sensor signal amplifier with an I²C interface and the MTCS-INT-AB3 sensor board for light applications. The JENCOLOR color sensors in conjunction with the signal ICs are very well-suited to the temperature and long-term stabilization of LED light, colorimetry tasks in industry, medicine and cosmetics, and also analytics applications.

MTCSiCF color sensor

The JENCOLOR color sensor MTCSiCF in its space-saving QFN16 housing (4 x 4 x 0.9 mm) is the latest member of the true color sensors family with XYZ filters, which are perfect for eye-precise, absolute colorimetry thanks to their defined filter characteristics (standard spectral value function). The sensor allows for the precise measurement of the color of materials, liquids or light in accordance with CIE1931/DIN5033. This facilitates measuring systems that replicate human color perception and which display their results as XYZ points in the Lab (Luv) color space. The sensors are well-suited to all applications that require an optimum ratio between price, overall size and colorimetry precision. At the same time, the human eye is used as the quality standard for the precision of color determination and colorimetry.

MCDC04 signal conditioner

For the signal input level, photometry requires a further dynamic range that can comprise several dimensions. The MCDC04 meets these requirements with its internal signal processing concept.
The programmable signal conditioner IC facilitates an input signal resolution of up to 16 Bit and ensures a high synchronization of the channels across the working temperature range. The MCDC04 signal conditioner is specifically coordinated to the requirements of the tristimulus JENCOLOR color sensors. The combination of the MTCSiCF color sensor with the MCDC04 is excellently suited for many photometry and light control applications.

MTCS-INT-AB3 evaluation kit

The MTCS-INT-AB3 evaluation kit is based on two ASSPs, which have been specially developed for tasks in LED light control, e.g. the regulation of LED light sources. The MTCSiCF true color sensor implements colorimetry in accordance with the CIE1931 standard. The MCDC04 signal conditioner IC is an analog-digital converter with electricity input, a high bandwidth and I2C output. Both components are supplemented by the power supply. The functionality offered means that the board is perfect for OEM color sensor solutions in the Luv/Lav color space. The precision of the photo colorimetry and long-term stabilization of the sensor characteristics contribute to securing the color stability of LED light controls despite varying temperatures. Application examples include the LED cabin lighting in aircraft, and the color light management of display backlights or video walls.
