Dubai is the new global metropolis – the film release of the latest “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol”, which was also shot at the recently inaugurated Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, clearly shows where in the world the action takes place. Jumeirah Hotels, the hotel group of the Dubai Holding, expands strongly. According to TOPHOTELPROJECTS there are currently 31 international large hotel projects under construction or development. The largest being the Jumeirah Anguilla Resort (TOPHOTELPROJECTS No. 9746) in the Caribbean.

Here a premium property with 140 rooms and villas together with the “Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course” will be constructed. The resort on the Anguilla Island is due to open by the beginning of 2014. Further Jumeirah Resorts will be developed in Bali, Oman, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco and auf the Virgin Islands.

One of the latest jewels of the Arab hotel group is the newly opened premium resort Jumeirah Vittaveli in the Maldives. 91 villas, in parts build directly above the sea, provide accommodation space of 184 to 800 square meters. Kai Boeddinghaus is the German Head Chef, who has been awarded a Michelin star at the Kameha Suite Frankfurt/Germany.

Jumeirah has opened a total of six new top hotels: Jumeirah at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray in Dubai, Jumeirah Dhevanafushi and Jumeirah Vittaveli in the Maledives, Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai in China and Jumeirah Frankfurt.

Expansion at the Arabian Gulf: Marriott is extending its top luxury brand Ritz-Carlton with a new major project. A top resort with 447 rooms and suites as well as 85 villas (TOPHOTELPROJECTS Nr. 3700) is currently being built in Abu Dhabi with the expected opening in spring 2012. This year the legendary Resort Al Bustan Palace was acquired by Marriott in Muskat/Oman. The 250-rooms-property was recently refurbished and revaluated for several million US-Dollars.

The new Ritz-Carlton resort at the Grand Canal in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arabian Emirates, affords much luxury in the desert area with large backyards. Huge water features and spectacular lighting effects can”t be missing as well as a major outdoor pool Olympia sized. Further there is a private beach at the large canal for hotel guests.

It is the third Ritz-Carlton hotel in the United Arabian Emirates, so far there are two properties in Dubai.

The latest export hit coming from Germany: Besides “Vapiano” – the German restaurant chain now operates more than 100 outlets throughout Europe – the Motel One budget design hotel chain is also a bestseller in the “old world”. The Motel One boss Mr. Dieter Mueller, a hotel veteran with Accor roots, herewith will operate two hotels in Great Britain to start with, making it the first German budget hotel chain expanding into the UK. The top dog is as per today Premier Inn with 602 budget properties.

Mueller confirms that in the future he will most certainly hold on to his successful Motel One concept. “Like hell I will sell. Definitely not!”, he says. Although the participation of investors he does not rule out.

Marriott continues to accelerate in China: The largest project of the US hotel chain is the Macao Studio City Marriott Hotel (TOPHOTELPROJECTS Project Nr. 1.957) with 968 rooms. The casino hotel will be located alongside the famous Cotauis Strip of the gaming megacity and is due to open in autumn 2014.

In the former Portuguese colony Macau gaming is a traditional leisure-time activity. (Hamburg, Germany – 28 October 2011) New hotels for the UEFA Soccer Championship EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine: Tophotelprojects.com revealed that currently 28 new upscale hotels are under construction. In Poland an additional 21 first class and luxury hotels with nearly 4,000 guest rooms are being developed. The Ukraine will see 32 new upscale hotels with more than 7,400 rooms added to its hotel market.

The latest hotel opening is the 167-room Four Points by Sheraton in Zaporizhia, Ukraine. The new built business and conference hotel is created by JOI-Design from Hamburg, Germany. For Starwoods”s debut in the Ukraine the designers used the colours blue and yellow as well as sunflowers symbols as recognizable emblematic national signs.

In Poland, eight of the 21 scheduled hotel projects will be open until the offical start of UEFA EURO in June next year. The largest hotel project among the 2012 openings is the Park Inn by Radisson in Wroclaw with 260 rooms. The largest hotel project of all future developments in Poland is the Doubletree by Hilton in Warsaw (365 rooms, scheduled to open in autumn 2013).

In Ukraine 20 of the announced 32 hotel projects will have opened until the UEFA EURO 2012. The largest project among the 2012 openings is the Swissôtel Kiew with 500 rooms. The largest hotel project of all future developments in the Ukraine is the Radisson Blu Bolshaya Yalta with 505 rooms (scheduled to open in March 2013).
